Patiala News:No major injuries in NSNIS false ceiling collapse incident: Director Sumit Miglani

— NSNIS authorities cordon off affected area; technical inspection ordered
Director of Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports (NSNIS), Patiala, Sumit Miglani, said that an incident involving the falling of a portion of the lightweight false ceiling beneath the roof occurred at the institute during a cultural event today.
Officials present at the spot immediately visited and assessed the situation. A few persons sustained minor injuries and were provided immediate first aid and necessary medical attention. No one sustained any major injury, and all concerned persons are safe and stable.
Sumit Miglani said that, as an immediate precautionary measure, the affected area was cordoned off and access to the area was restricted. Necessary safety measures were promptly undertaken, and action has been initiated to repair the affected portion. Orders have also been issued for an inquiry into the incident.
He further said that a technical inspection of the area would also be carried out to ascertain the cause of the incident and identify any further preventive measures required. He said that the safety and well-being of athletes, trainees, staff and visitors at NIS remain the institution’s highest priority.
Director Sumit Miglani said that the situation is fully under control and normal activities at the institute are continuing without any disruption.
The Director further said that NSNIS is closely monitoring the situation and will ensure that all necessary corrective and preventive measures are taken.
