Sultanpur Lodhi was struck by a tragic incident as an unidentified woman lost her life in a drowning mishap in the sacred Kali Bein river. The news of this unfortunate event sent shockwaves through the community, prompting authorities to swiftly respond and retrieve the woman’s body from the holy river.
Eyewitnesses present at the scene reported the sighting of a lifeless body floating in the waters of the Pavitra Kali Bein. Sensing the gravity of the situation, they immediately alerted the police, who promptly arrived at the location and initiated efforts to retrieve the woman’s body from the water, utilizing a boat for the operation.
Preliminary investigations have unveiled a distressing account of the incident. Witnesses mentioned that a swarm of bees had provoked panic among the people congregated by the Wei River banks. In an attempt to escape the swarm, the victim, identified as Parvati, a migrant laborer, sought refuge in the river. Tragically, a portion of the swarm followed her, causing a life-threatening situation. Although some attempts were made to rescue her, tragically, she could not be saved.
The local authorities, post retrieving the body from the river, were able to identify the deceased as Parvati through her family members. The body has been transferred to the mortuary hall of Civil Hospital Sultanpur Lodhi for a thorough post-mortem examination. The police have also extended financial assistance to the family to facilitate the migrant worker’s cremation.
