ਭਾਰਤ ਦੀਆਂ ਪਹਿਲੀਆਂ ਦਸ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਅੱਠ IIT ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ IISc ਹਨ। ਸ੍ਰੀ ਰਾਓ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ&comma; &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;ਆਈਆਈਟੀ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਸੰਦਰਭ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਏ ਸਨ। ਇਹ ਨਹਿਰੂ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਭਾਰਤ ਲਈ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਹੈ। ਪਹਿਲੇ ਪੰਜ ਆਈ&period;ਆਈ&period;ਟੀ&period; ਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਵਧੀਆ ਫੰਡ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਗਏ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਧੀਆ ਬੁਨਿਆਦੀ ਢਾਂਚਾ ਅਤੇ ਖੋਜ ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ। ਸਮੇਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ IIT ਨੇ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਤਰੱਕੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ। ਦੂਜੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਆਈਆਈਐਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇੱਕ ਅਨੁਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਹੈ। ਆਈਆਈਟੀ-ਕੇਜੀਪੀ ਹੁਣ ਮੈਡੀਕਲ ਖੇਤਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਆਈਆਈਟੀ-ਮਦਰਾਸ ਸਿਹਤ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਉੱਦਮ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਆਈਆਈਟੀ ਅੱਜ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਡਿਗਰੀਆਂ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਸ਼ੱਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਆਈਆਈਟੀ ਦੂਜਿਆਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੱਖਰੀ ਹੈ। ਗਿਣਤੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾ ਹੈ&comma;
