Swift Progress: Mobile Phone Recovered & Suspect Arrested in Manipur Stripping Incident
NEW-DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken charge of the investigation into the disturbing viral video that captured the case of two women being stripped naked in Manipur. Government officials have confirmed that the Home Ministry is actively engaged in discussions with the Meitei and Kuki communities to restore peace in the region.
According to reliable sources, the Home Ministry is planning to appeal to the Supreme Court for a hearing outside the state. The court of Assam is likely to conduct the proceedings related to the case. Furthermore, significant progress has been made in the investigation, with the recovery of the mobile phone used to record the incident. The CBI has taken possession of the device, and the individual responsible for recording the video has been apprehended by the police.
Media reports suggest that the central government is leaving no stone unturned to bring normalcy back to Manipur. In a bid to assess the situation on the ground and extend support to the victims of violence, a delegation of Indian parliamentarians from the coalition of opposition parties is scheduled to visit Manipur on July 29-30. Among them will be Rahul Gandhi, who has previously visited the region as well.
