Victoria University, Australia, has launched a Global Mobility Programme for students at its Delhi NCR campus, enabling study partially in Melbourne through semester exchange, UG transfer, and UG-to-PG progression pathways.

GITAM (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru,has opened admissions to its UG and PG programmes for 2026-27.

ITM Business School launched its full-time MBA in Applied AI programme to equip students with practical and industry-relevant AI capabilities for business applications. Sunil Gupta, Co-founder, MD and CEO, Yotta Data Services, was the chief guest at the launch event.

A team from SSN College of Engineering, led by S. Suresh Kumar, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, has developed a vehicle safety system that improves escape chances during flooding. The innovation features a roof-opening mechanism that activates when a car begins to submerge in water.

JD Institute of Fashion Technology has launched new UG and PG programmes in design, luxury, branding, entrepreneurship, and business innovation, alongside establishing a dedicated Department of Design. IIT Roorkee, along with industry partners, hosted the Industry Academia Meet 2026 to discuss innovation, research commercialisation, and more, and organised the Uttarakhand Industry-Academia Conclave on Hydrogen 2026, through its Department of Hydro and Renewable Energy with Pinaka Green Pvt. Ltd., centring on innovation, research translation, and development of Uttarakhand’s hydrogen economy.

Beep App served as the outreach and recruitment partner for the Google Gemini Student Ambassador Programme 2026, selecting 1,577 student ambassadors for Gemini AI across campuses. It also introduced three UI/UX programmes — Advanced Certification, Advanced Diploma, and PG Diploma — to prepare students for careers in digital design and product development.

Group Legrand India inaugurated the Legrand Institute for Training and Education in Thane, with Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde as chief guest. Developed in collaboration with SkillSonics, the facility will offer free, industry-focused technical training to over 1,000 ITI, diploma, engineering students, and technicians.

Researchers from IIT Guwahati including Saikat Bhaumik, P.K. Giri, and research scholars Latika Juneja and Garima Choudhary, developed a light-emitting perovskite nanomaterial to help detect counterfeits such as fake currency and forged documents. The findings were published in the Advanced Optical Materials journal.

S. K. Srivastava, Amitava Patra, K. Swuro and V. Kirha from the Department of Geology, Nagaland University, and Shyam Kanhaiya, Assistant Professor, Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, VBS Pruvanchal University, Uttar Pradesh, conducted an integrated study of the Upper Disang Formation in Nagaland, revealing insights into the origin, transport, and evolution of ancient sediments along the eastern margin of the Indian tectonic plate. The findings were published in Evolving Earth.

Noida International Institute of Medical Sciences College and Hospital hosted the Thalcare Summit 2026 CME on Thalassemia: Challenges in Diagnosis and Management in collaboration with its Departments of Paediatrics and Pathology, focusing on recent advances in diagnosis and treatment. R. K. Gupta, Professor and Director, Govt Institute of Medical Sciences, was the chief guest.

Anant National University, Ahmedabad,hosted Open House 2026, bringing together over 400 aspiring designers from more than 40 cities for workshops, studio visits, and mentorship sessions led by more than 30 faculty members.

Ashiana Housing’s Ashiana Anmol, Gurugram hosted a robotics workshop where over 40 students learned coding, drones, and robotics through hands-on activities and live demos, guided by NASA STEAM Gateway Educator and ISRO-registered Space Tutor Dharm Raj Panwar.

The 2026 Graduate Outlook Survey by CFA Institute found that 83% of aspiring professionals in India remain career-focused despite economic uncertainty, while 70% are considering or planning to pursue studies abroad amid shifting geopolitical and economic conditions.

Convocations

JAIN Online held its 16th convocation for the Class of 2026 themed Reimagined, Rewired, where over 5,600 graduates across JAIN Online and the Centre for Distance and Online Education received their degrees.

IIM Nagpur held its 10th convocation where 443 students received their degrees. Sajjan Jindal, JSW Group Chairman, was the chief guest, and Deven J. Mehta, chairman, Sigma Capital Limited, was guest of honour.

Shiv Nadar University held its 12th convocation, awarding degrees to 794 students in the presence of chief guest C. Vijayakumar, CEO and MD, HCLTech. Professor C. N. R. Rao was also conferred an honorary doctorate for his contributions to science and higher education.

Awards and laurels

Prof. Dheeraj Kumar, Project Director, TEXMiN Foundation and Deputy Director, IIT Dhanbad, was awarded the Academician Nikolay P. Sazhin Medal at the International Congress on Rare Metals, Materials and Related Technologies 2026 in Moscow for his contributions to rare metals science and technology.

The University of Strathclyde won the Race Equality Charter Bronze Award for its efforts to promote race equality and integrate anti-racist practices across the institution.

Students from MET Institute of Mass Media, Akshata Hegde and Althea Annie Sequeira, represented N H Studioz at Cannes Lions, during a three-month internship, while the institute’s documentary,The White House of Circles, exploring Warli art, received recognition at the Indian International Film Festival.
