Punjab government has appointed former central board of direct taxes (CBDT) Member (Legislation) Arbind Modi, IRS (Retd.) as Chief Advisor (Fiscal Affairs), in the department of finance , govt of Punjab to advise the government regarding financial resource mobilization, reviewing capital and revenue expenditure and its rationalization , augmentation of state’s finances and restructuring of fiscal debt.
In July 2017, Arbind Modi is elevated to the post of member CBDT. In November 2017, “to draft a new Direct Tax Law in consonance with economic needs of the country, the Government of India had constituted a Task Force in which Arbind Modi, Member (Legislation), CBDT was appointed as a Convener of the ‘Constitution of Task Force for drafting a New Direct Tax Legislation’
Former CBDT Member (Legislation) Arbind Modi was appointed Advisor (Fiscal Unit) in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Washington DC. Modi retired on September 30, 2018 and within a month Narinder Modi administration gave him Washington assignment.
Renowned taxman, former CBDT member appointed as Punjab Govt’s Chief Advisor; granted Cabinet Minister Rank. He will be working on honorary basis.
