<p><b>BITS Design School</b> has opened admissions for its third cohort of the four-year, fully residential Bachelor of Design (Honours) programme. </p>
<p><b>Eligibility:</b> 10+2 or equivalent in any stream from any recognised board of education, with minimum 45% (appearing or passed). Applicants can qualify through any of the following exams: NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Prelims, UCEED, or the BITS Design Aptitude Test (BITSDAT), which will be conducted from March 31 to April 5.</p>

<p><b>Events</b></p>
<p>Researchers from <b>NIT-Rourkela</b> have designed an intelligent hybrid microgrid that integrates solar, wind, and battery power to provide uninterrupted electricity to off-grid rural areas. Their work was published in the<i> IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications</i>. Another team from this institute, in collaboration with the <b>Azerbaijan State University of Economics</b> (Turkey), co-authored a study on how digital tools and renewable energy can boost agricultural productivity and sustainability in developing countries. A paper was published in <i>Technology Analysis and Strategic Management.</i></p>
<p><b>Lovely Professional University </b>has received â¹80 lakh research grant from the Indian Council of Social Science Research, Ministry of Education, Government of India, for a four-year study on carbon credit adoption in Punjab and Haryana agriculture, focusing on farmers’ readiness and the mitigation potential of sustainable practices.</p>
<p><b>Eliza Khwairakpam, researcher, Nagaland University, </b>found that land-use changes— especially agriculture, settlements, and shifting cultivation—are degrading the water quality of rivers feeding Loktak Lake in Manipur, threatening its biodiversity and local livelihoods. The study was published in the<i> International Journal of Environment and Pollution.</i></p>
<p><b>AM Jain College</b>, in collaboration with the <b>Tamil Development Board, University of Madras, and Sandhya Publications, </b>organised an international conference on <i>Multidisciplinary Tamil Education and Scientific Development</i> to promote integrating science, technology, and AI into Tamil education. Twenty-five Tamil scholars worldwide participated.</p>
<p><b>VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering and Technology</b>, in collaboration with <b>CSIR–Central Road Research Institute,</b> hosted a conference on Transportation Research Efforts for Ecological Sustainability themed <i>Green, Smart, and Resilient Mobility</i>. It featured technologies like AI-based traffic prediction, drone bridge inspections, and more, with researchers presenting papers on sustainable materials, GIS applications, and related areas.</p>
<p><b>IIM Bangalore</b> and the <b>National E-Governance Services Ltd,</b> inaugurated an electric bus on campus to promote sustainable mobility and cut carbon emissions. It also celebrated its <b>52nd Foundation Day</b>, featuring a lecture by former Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao titled <i>Beyond Borders: Preparing for a World in Transition</i>.</p>
<p><b>Oakridge International School, Bachupally,</b> hosted a US University Fair where students interacted with university officials, explored UG programmes, and more. Participating universities included the University of Houston; University of Kansas; Arizona State University, and more.</p>
<p><b>The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, KLH Aziz Nagar, Hyderabad,</b> in collaboration with <b>Google Developer Groups,</b> organised a workshop titled <i>Build with AI using Google Cloud</i>. The sessions focused on real-time data integration, intelligent retrieval system development, and scalable AI solutions powered by Google Cloud.</p>
<p><b>The IEEE Student Branch, </b>in association with <b>AICTE Idea Lab at Mohan Babu University</b> organised SAMARTHA 2025<b>,</b> a national onsite hackathon themed <i>Smart Solutions for a Sustainable Future</i>. Participants developed solutions across domains including AI and ML, IoT, Green technology, and more.</p>
<p><b>The Indian School of Business</b> has instituted the PGP Class of 2005 Scholarship, a merit-based award that will provide an annual tuition-fee waiver to a deserving student of the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP), beginning with the current academic year.</p>
<p><b>The Apparel, Made-ups and Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council, </b>partnered with<b> ITEES Singapore</b> to launch a six-month Luxury Fashion and Lifestyle Management Course. It aims to train youth for careers in fashion and apparel retail, combining classroom learning, grooming and styling labs, retail visits, and internships with leading luxury brands.</p>
<p><b>Prof Ajay Kapoor </b>was appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Somaiya Vidyavihar University. He is an IIT-BHU alumnus with a PhD from the University of Cambridge.</p>
<p><b>Shriram Life Insurance Company </b>awarded scholarships to class 10 toppers from government schools across 119 assembly constituencies in Telangana for 2024-25. </p>
<p><b>The Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (Deemed to be University) </b>hosted the inaugural Dr. A. Shanmugasundaram Annual Oration at its Chennai campus. Titled <i>Towards Viksit Bharat 2047: Growth with Stability and Equity</i>, the oration was delivered by C. Rangarajan, former Governor of the Reserve Bank of India. </p>
<p><b>IIT Roorkee </b>has launched a pilot of <i>Elevate</i>, an AI-powered mock interview platform developed by Newton School, to enhance students’ interview preparation and placement readiness. The tool simulates real hiring processes from companies such as Amazon, Google, and others, providing personalised feedback, follow-up questions, and evaluation reports highlighting students’ strengths, weaknesses, and communication skills.</p>
<p><b>Marwadi University </b>completed placements for students of its Engineering, Management, and Computer Applications programmes for the batch of 2026. Recruiters included Zeus Learning, Armakuni, Edu-versity, Movidu Technologies, and more.</p>
<p><b>Pioneer Academics</b> released a white paper titled <i>Generative AI and the Transformation of College Admissions</i> which sheds light on how Generative AI is reshaping college admissions, offering insights on ethical use, fairness, and verification from global universities.</p>
<p><b>RedVersity </b>has received approval from the Healthcare Sector Skill Council (HSSC) to become an accredited training provider, and has been authorised to conduct government-recognised vocational programmes in healthcare and emergency services. </p>
<p>High-school students from Bengaluru — <b>R. Usha and R. Nalini from Sai Krushna Vidya Mandir School, Hosadoddi Village, and Aniketh V. Bhat from Rashtrotthana Vidya Kendra </b>— conducted research at Prayoga Institute of Education Research, discovering toxic chemicals like Bisphenol S (BPS) and Diphenyl Sulfone (DPS) in everyday receipts, posing hormone, heart, and cancer risks for cashiers, transport workers, and regular users.</p>
<p><b>College Vidya</b> dedicated its Foundation Day on October 25 as Online Education Day, highlighting the power of digital learning. It announced 50% subsidies for transgender learners pursuing online degrees and launched a nationwide <i>Learner Stories</i> campaign showcasing students’ experiences with online education.</p>
<p><b>Research</b></p>
<p><b>The GMAC<i> 2025 Application Trends Survey</i></b> reports a seven percent increase in graduate management applications, driven by growth in Asia and Europe (excluding the U.K.), while the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. saw declines.</p>
<p>According to <b>ApplyBoard’s </b>report, Canada’s approval of new post-secondary international student visas has fallen to its lowest level in a decade, showing a greater decline than during the COVID-19 shutdown. Key findings include how post-secondary study permit approvals have dropped more than 60% year-over-year and students from India, the Philippines, and many African countries continue to face low approval rates, among others. </p>
<p><b>Leap</b>, a study-abroad platform reports that Indian students’ interest in AI, Data Science, and Analytics courses abroad has grown five-fold since 2021, doubling in the past year, while the demand for MSc Management has also doubled year-on-year. Germany and Ireland saw the fastest growth in popularity, and UAE and New Zealand experienced a three-fold increase in demand between Q1 and Q2 of 2025.</p>
<p><b>Awards and laurels</b></p>
<p><b>Oakridge International School, Bachupally, </b>recently won the Best CBSE Grade 10 Results 2024/25 at the Nord Anglia Education Global Leaders Conference held in Villars, Switzerland. </p>
<p><b>Noida International University’s </b>undergraduate Computer Science and Engineering programme received accreditation by the National Board of Accreditation.</p>
<p><b><i>Prof. Debarka Sengupta from the Department of Computational Biology at IIIT Delhi</i></b> was conferred the Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar: Vigyan Yuva-Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar in Biological Sciences, for 2025.</p>
<p><b>Team Connection comprising Atmarani Mohanty, Abhishek Chauhan, and Riya Garg from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune,</b> were declared winners of the Nothing Incubator programme in India conducted by Nothing. The first runner-up was <b>Team f20221844 from BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus,</b> followed by<b> Team Elevators from IIM Lucknow.</b></p>
<p>The team comprising <b>Gyan Prakash Lenka and Bhavyman Sharma, students of Army Public School, Hyderabad, </b>came first in the Hyderabad Regional Finals of the 2025 edition of Aqua Regia – The School Quiz organised by T.I.M.E., and CLAT Prep. <b>Parth Ravindra Thote and Shriwallabh Nachiket Chabukswar from Ambedkar College, Nagpur,</b> were first runners-up followed by <b>C.Prabhat and N. <p>Samsung announced the winners of the fourth edition of its Samsung Solve for Tomorrow 2025. The top four winning teams were <b>Percevia (Bengaluru); NextPlay.AI (Aurangabad); Paraspeak (Gurugram), and Prithvi Rakshak (Palamu).</b></p>
<p>Scientists from <b>TCG CREST’s Centre for Quantum Engineering, Research and Education and Institute for Advancing Intelligence — comprising Peniel Bertrand Tsemo, Akshaya Jayashankar, K. Sugisaki, Sayan Chakraborty, and V. S. Prasannaa</b>—developed an improved HHL (Ψ-HHL) algorithm, enhancing quantum computers’ efficiency in solving complex problems, published in <i>Physical Review Research</i>.</p>

<p><b>Arena Animation </b>has partnered with <b>Adobe </b>to equip students with essential creative and digital skills. </p>

<p><b>The University of Winchester</b> has partnered with <b>Oxford International </b>to attract a more diverse range of students and expand global reach. </p>
<p><b>Shree Cement Ltd. </b>partnered with <b>Fifty Villagers Seva Sansthan</b> to provide NEET coaching for 25 underprivileged girls in Rajasthan, supporting their pursuit of medical careers.</p>
<p><b>The Government of Punjab </b>and <b>EnglishHelper</b> launched The English Edge, a programme to enhance English proficiency and employability for 7,50,000 students across 3,600 government schools over the next three years.</p>
