The University of Leeds invites applications for its three-year BSc Computer Science (AI) degree.

Eligibility: Indian applicants should have an overall average of 75% and 80% in the two most relevant subjects (including Maths) if applying from CBSE, CISCE, or the West Bengal Board; for state boards, applicants should have an overall average of 80% and 85% in the two most relevant subjects (including Maths). Students will need class 12 English at 70% or 75% depending on the state board, or IELTS 6.5 overall.

The University of Sheffield, the U.K., invites applications for its MSc in Digital Marketing course starting in September 2026.  

Eligibility: Holders of a three-or-four-year Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 60% from a recognised university in any subject. IELTS 6.5 (with 6 in each component) or university equivalent.

Scholarship: The university is offering International Postgraduate Scholarship 2026 scholarships worth £3,000 to international fee-paying students starting their studies in September 2026. It will be awarded automatically as a tuition fee discount to eligible students who accept their offer from the university by July 7.

IIT Mandi invites applications for the 2026–28 batch of its MBA in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence programme.

The admission process for the third session of the Allen Shiksha Sambal Abhiyan free NEET coaching programme, jointly run by the LN Maheshwari Parmarth Trust and Allen Career Institute Private Limited, has commenced. The British Council, in partnership with the UK government’s GREAT Britain campaign announced 12 GREAT Scholarships 2026–27 for postgraduate students across Finance, Marketing, Business, Psychology, STEM, Design and Humanities, and Arts, Music and Dance programmes. The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, is offering the Dean’s International Excellence Awards for Master’s students.

Value: Between £9,000 and £12,000 to applicants joining a postgraduate taught programme in September 2026

ITM IDM concluded its December Scholarship Entrance Test and awarded over 50 students with scholarships. The next Scholarship Entrance Test will be conducted in January. Details at https://idmadmissions.itm.edu/

Placements are ongoing at JU FET (Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Jadavpur University). Recruiters included MotorQ, Microsoft, Apeing Labs Inc., among others.

Plaksha University completed placements for its BTech 2025 batch, with recruiters including Arcesium, BCG, D.E. Shaw, Flipkart; 27% of students opted for higher studies and research at leading global universities.

Innovators at NIT Rourkela developed a human-like interactive robotic system using AI and Large Language Model and have secured a patent for it. The findings were published in Elsevier’s Computers and Electrical Engineering journal.

Vivekanand Education Society (VES), through its H.A.B.I.T (Hashu Advani Business Incubation and Technology) Foundation, organised HABITia’ 25, its entrepreneurship and startup event; 256 people participated.

Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science, Chennai, hosted the International Conference on Quantum Horizons 2025: Materials, Intelligent Technologies and Sustainable Futures, featuring Nobel laureate Moungi G. Bawendi from MIT, the U.S., addressing students, scientists, and industry experts.

Mumbai Educational Trust – Institute of Mass Media inaugurated Metamorphosis 2025, its creative festival themed MediaVerse, celebrating storytelling, innovation, and the world of multimedia creation.

Satyam School of Journalism and Mass Communication held its annual media fest IGNITE 2K25, themed Heritage Rising: Reviving Our Legacy, featuring events like RJ Hunt, fashion walk, photography, and group dance competitions.

Vinayaka Missions Research Foundation (Deemed to be University), Chennai, hosted V-VIBE’25, a student club festival for its silver jubilee, featuring cultural performances, stalls, and student-led activities.

IIT Roorkee hosted the Design for Bharat – Youth Innovation Challenge with an exhibition at its Tinkering Lab organised by its Design Innovation Center. It inaugurated the 69th DAE Solid State Physics Symposium with keynote by S. L. Chaplot, and concluded the International Conference on Advances in Biotechnology, Bioprocessing, and Structural Biology 2025, , jointly organised with the Biotech Research Society of India, featuring thematic sessions and a platform for school students to showcase research.

Inductions and convocations

VELS Medical College and Hospital, Chennai, held the White Coat Ceremony for the MBBS 2025–26 batch, inducting 250 students, with Dr. C. Palanivelu as chief guest.

Parul University held its ninth convocation, awarding degrees to over 16,000 students, with dignitaries including Harsh Sanghvi, , Minister of State for Home Affairs and Deputy CM of Gujarat; sportspersons like Mary Kom and Sania Mirza, and more.

Masters’ Union held its convocation for the class of 2025, where over 350 students received their degrees. Rohit Sharma, ODI cricket captain, was the chief guest.

ABBS School of Management conducted its 15th convocation for the class of 2025. Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director, IIM Kozhikode, was the chief guest.

The New Delhi Institute of Management celebrated its 30th convocation for the BBA Batch of 2021–24 where 300 students received their degrees. Ashish Sood, Minister of Education, Government of NCT of Delhi, was the chief guest.

Navrachana University hosted its 13th convocation where 844 students received their degrees. Radhakant Padhi, HAG Professor and HAL Chair Professor in the Department of Aerospace Engineering, was the chief guest.

Awards and laurels

Gopi Birla Memorial School won first place at We Are The World, the 23rd annual cultural inter-school competition organised by the Rotaract Club of H.R. College.

BITS Pilani was honoured at the CII Global Innovation and IP Summit 2025 for its achievements in IP creation, management, technology commercialisation, and also received the CII Women in STEM Award.

Maharana Mewar Public School, Udaipur, won the second edition of JK Lakshmipat University’s My City, My Lab ideathon 2025, with Lakshmipat Singhania Academy, Kolkata, and DPS Indore as runners-up.

Easwari Engineering College, Chennai’s team Photonics Odysseywas among the top 10 global winners of the NASA International Space Apps Challenge 2025.

The IEEE Student Branch at Mohan Babu University was conferred the Outstanding Student Branch Award 2025 at the IEEE India Council Award.

Team NIT Raipur won Season 2 of WongaWits, YES Securities’ investor education initiative, with Team Jawaharlal Nehru School, Bhopal, and Team IIT Guwahati as runners-up.

Lovely Professional University hosted the five-day Smart India Hackathon 2025–26 finale (Hardware edition), with its Architecture teamKanyarasiwinning nationally at the Chennai nodal centre in the Software edition.

NIT Rourkela hosted the the 30th International Conference on Hydraulics, Water Resources, River, and Coastal Engineering, HYDRO International 2025, where Prof. Kanhu Charan Patra and Prof. Subhasish Dey were honoured with the Indian Society for Hydraulics Awards 2025.

VES was conferred the Narsee Monjee Award for Best Overall Performance – Polytechnic (Maharashtra State) by the Indian Society for Technical Education.

Rithika S K, a student of KCG College of Technology, won the ninth edition of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) India Scholarship Award. Vansika Jhawar, from Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, was first runner-up, followed by Khushi Malhotra from SRM University AP.

Teams Gingers, Chatpata Vada Paav, and Daalbaatichurm from IIT Roorkee secured first, second, and third places in the finale of IIT Bombay Trust Lab’s national cybersecurity competition, Capture The Flag.

Preksha Baid, a second year B.Design student at Rishihood University, was shortlisted as one of the top five finalists at DesignUp 2025, a design and tech conference.

MoUs and partnerships

SRM Institute of Science and Technology signed an MoU with Pon Pure Chemicals Pvt. Ltd., Chennai, to set up a lab for developing and testing oil-field chemical products, focusing on drilling fluids and related formulations.

The Indian Institute of Creative Technologies partnered with the Game Developers Association of India to strengthen India’s game development education, industry engagement, and ecosystem development.

IIM Nagpur signed an MoU with ONGC Green Limited to collaborate on research, capacity building, and policy-driven initiatives in the green and future energy.

BITS Pilani partnered with Skillplot to advance research and training in GenAI. It will also establish a GAIR Lab at its Department of Computer Science and Information Systems.

Mahindra University signed an MoU with Goonj to promote community development, environmental sustainability, and civic engagement for students and society.

UST partnered with the IIT Madras Incubation Cell to promote deep tech startups in healthcare and life sciences through joint programmes, incubator engagement, and industry collaborations.

Vertiv has partnered with IIT Bombay to develop advanced cooling solutions for AI-driven data centers, while also addressing India’s escalating AI cooling challenge.

NSDCInternational partnered with Manipur University to set up a Japanese Language Training Center, to enhance Japanese language skills among the youth in Manipur and the Northeast, for global opportunities.

Masai partnered with MIT’s IDSS to launch a six-month Machine Learning with Python certification and with the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management for a five-month executive programme in Data-Driven Decision Making with Generative AI for Indian learners.

Macmillan Education India partnered with Microsoft India to promote AI literacy and digital skills among educators and secondary students, and released AI books for classes 9 and 10, aligned with CBSE’s Skill Course curriculum.
