ਮਹਿੰਗਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਦੇ ਦੋਸ਼ਾਂ ਕਾਰਨ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਹੋਏ&comma;&&num;8221&semi; ਭਾਗ ਪੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ। &&num;8221&semi;ਜੂਨ 1975 ਵਿਚ&comma; ਅੰਦਰੂਨੀ ਅਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਦੇ ਆਧਾਰ &&num;8216&semi;ਤੇ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਐਮਰਜੈਂਸੀ ਲਗਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ।<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>ਇਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ&comma; ਜ਼ਿਆਦਾਤਰ ਮੌਲਿਕ ਅਧਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਅੱਤਲ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ&comma; ਪ੍ਰੈਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੈਂਸਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ&comma; ਅਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਨੇਤਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਰਕੁਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਗ੍ਰਿਫਤਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਜਮਹੂਰੀ ਸੰਸਥਾਵਾਂ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਤਣਾਅ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਗਈਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਗਰਿਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ &&num;8216&semi;ਤੇ ਪਾਬੰਦੀ ਲਗਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ।&&num;8221&semi; ਕਿਤਾਬ ਐਮਰਜੈਂਸੀ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਅੰਦੋਲਨ ਵਿਚ ਜੈਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਨਰਾਇਣ ਦੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਉਜਾਗਰ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>ਕਿਤਾਬ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਅੰਸ਼ ਪੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ&comma; &&num;8220&semi;ਲੋਕਨਾਇਕ ਵਜੋਂ ਜਾਣੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਰਾਜਨੀਤਿਕ ਨੇਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਵਾਦੀ ਚਿੰਤਕ ਨੇ ਜਨ ਅੰਦੋਲਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਗਰਿਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਗਠਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ&comma;
