<p>						PATIALA: In a distressing incident in Patiala, drug traffickers launched a violent attack on a Punjab Police officer during a raid targeting their illicit operations. The assailants inflicted severe injuries, breaking the leg and arm of a head constable in the process. The injured constable has been admitted to a Patiala hospital for medical treatment. Following the assault, the perpetrators managed to escape with the police vehicle.</p>
<p>Swiftly responding to the situation, the police initiated a comprehensive operation to track down the criminals and apprehend them. Law enforcement authorities successfully identified the Thar vehicle used by the drug smugglers.</p>
<p>The incident unfolded when Punjab Police, acting on confidential information, devised a plan to confront the drug smugglers. Officers from the Samana Police Station coordinated a raid in the vicinity of 11 villages near Anaj Mandi, situated on the Patiala bypass.</p>
<p>Policeman Husanpreet Singh Cheema, who sustained injuries during the operation, recounted that the raid aimed to curb the activities of the drug traffickers, based on actionable intelligence. As the raid unfolded, the drug smugglers became aware of the police presence and attempted to flee the scene by commandeering a vehicle. In pursuit, the police officers gave chase, resulting in the criminals crashing their vehicle into an electric pole. In a desperate bid to escape, the smugglers rammed the Thar vehicle into the police, causing severe injuries to Constable Husanpreet Singh Cheema.</p>
<p>Notably, Vijay Kumar, in charge of the Samana Police Station, confirmed that the Thar vehicle used by the suspects has been positively identified. Authorities are actively pursuing the alleged culprits, and arrests are expected in connection with the incident.<br />
