<p>	 Indian Army initiates inquiry into the untimely death of Agniveer Amritpal Singh	 	</p>
<p>						JAMMU: In a tragic incident near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir&#8217;s Rajouri district, Agniveer Amritpal Singh, who had recently joined the Indian Army, lost his life due to what has been reported as a &#8216;self-inflicted bullet.&#8217; The unfortunate event occurred on October 11 at a forward post, where the young soldier was found deceased with a bullet wound.</p>
<p>The revelation was made by the Army&#8217;s Jammu-based White Knight Command in a statement, citing the incident as an unfortunate act of self-infliction while Amritpal Singh was on sentry duty in the Rajouri sector. The Army has since initiated a comprehensive inquiry to ascertain further details surrounding the incident.</p>
<p>Agniveer Amritpal Singh&#8217;s body was transported to his hometown, where he was given a solemn funeral attended by fellow army personnel, paying their respects to their fallen comrade.</p>
<p>Addressing the circumstances of his death, the Indian Army, following protocol for self-inflicted incidents, refrained from conducting a salute or a military cremation. Expressing deepest condolences to the grieving family, the Army conveyed their heartfelt sympathies in a social media post.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann expressed his intent to challenge the central government&#8217;s policy regarding this matter. In a social media post, the Chief Minister affirmed that his government would adhere to its own policy, standing by the martyr&#8217;s family. According to Punjab&#8217;s policy, a financial assistance of Rs 1 crore will be provided to Amritpal Singh&#8217;s family, as he is recognized as a martyr of the nation.<br />
